Thinking/Thanking: Aime Cesaire

“I accept, I accept it all.” (Aime Cesaire)
Not a statement of resignation.
Not pie in the sky.
Just a mediation as we begin (yet again, as yet).
Focus on right now.
Focus on what this moment wants from us.
Focus on how much has been accomplished so far.
Mistakes have been made.
Silence has been maintained.
Yet, something is happening.
Something that might actually be remembered as a break, an event, a way of thinking about equity and love–yes, this is about love and transforming a broken heart into a vibrant muscle, a well spring of the vital nutrition we need right now — truth.
Speak the truth.
Speak your truth.
We teach this.
We live this.
But, do we know this?
Is it now?

I accept, I accept it all.

  1. A favorite. Good choice, especially with colonization / plantation theme that seems to hit resistance (denial). I’d have gone with Fanon, but that might scare the horses of instruction.
